About
Jennie Thomason
My name is Jennie Wells Thomason, and I am running for New Hanover County Clerk of Superior Court. Born and raised in Wilmington, I am a proud graduate of the New Hanover County public school system. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from NC State University and my law degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
For more than 30 years, I have dedicated my career to public service, providing judicial services, legal representation, and advocacy for children, families, and some of the most vulnerable members of our community. My experience includes serving as Court Advocate for Domestic Violence Shelter and Services (The Open Gate) in Wilmington, Staff Attorney for the Department of Social Services’ Child Protective Services division, and more than seven years as a Magistrate Judge serving the people of New Hanover County.
I live in Wilmington with my husband John, our son Jack, and three very spoiled cats. I’m proud to be raising my son just a few streets from the home where I grew up. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, and spending time with my family.
