About
Jennie Thomason
My name is Jennie Wells Thomason and I am running for New Hanover County Clerk of Superior Court. Born and raised in Wilmington, I am a proud graduate of the New Hanover County public school system. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from NC State University and my law degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
For more than 30 years, I have dedicated my career to public service, providing judicial services, legal representation, and advocacy for children, families, and some of the most vulnerable members of our community. My experience includes serving as Court Advocate for Domestic Violence Shelter and Services (The Open Gate) in Wilmington, Staff Attorney for the Department of Social Services’ Child Protective Services division, and more than seven years as a Magistrate Judge serving the people of New Hanover County.
Earlier this year, I was appointed to the New Hanover County Committee for Women. I also serve on the North Carolina Democratic Party State Executive Commission, in addition to being a member of Women’s Impact Network. I’m honored to serve the people of New Hanover County in many different aspects, and I look forward to using my legal experience to bring an accessible, efficient, professional Courthouse to New Hanover County.
